Physician to complete a team of local Physicians in the heart of
a University town in Southern Illinois.
This Emergency Department has an annual volume of 27,000 and is
staffed generously with 40 hours of physician coverage per day seeing
an average of 1.8 patients per hour. The Physicians work from 14
treatment rooms with two well-equipped for trauma and there is an
8-bed observation unit just off the ED. Memorial Hospital of Carbondale,
owned by Southern Illinois Healthcare System, has been recognized
for two consecutive years as one of the nation's Top 100 hospitals
and is affiliated with Southern Illinois University School of Medicine,
which includes a Family Practice Residency Program. The hospital
touts the leading open-heart surgery and cardiac care program and
the only pediatric unit in southern Illinois. The area's most advanced
imaging center, a 64-slice CT, the area's only pediatric unit, a
regional cancer treatment center, and neurosurgery are available.
