Position Description
To provide leadership and strategic direction for Summit Medical
Center acute care emergency services and the SANE Program. This
includes oversight for the delivery of patient care, has the
responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice
for the services, provides leadership and accountability of the
operations; this includes developing and maintaining physician
relations, empowering clinical care givers through solicitation
of input, and implementation of actions to improve delivery of
patient care. The director assures achievement of department
and hospital goals as they relate to the operations of the Emergency
Department and the SANE Program. Additionally, assures adherence
to hospital policies and standards set forth by accreditation
and regulatory agencies.
This role reports to the CNO and has 50-90 FTE direct reports.
Registered as a professional nurse in the State of Colorado.
BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC, TNCC required.
BS or BA required. Masters preferred. Activity in professional
organizations recommended.
Three to five years experience in Emergency nursing. Minimum
two years management experience/supervisory experience desired.
Previous ED Management desired. Excellent verbal and written
communication skills. Management skills and independent judgment
required to assess in planning and directing a smoothly running
unit on a 24-hour basis to ensure optimal outcomes for the patients.
